Don served in the United States Coast Guard from 1967 to 1971. Don graduated from St. Ambrose University after majoring in German with his B.A. in 1974. After several years of farming, Don decided to attend the University of Iowa College of Law, where he earned his J.D. degree and graduated with distinction in 1984. Don also received his M.B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1985. He was admitted to the Iowa State Bar Association in 1985 and the U.S. District Court of Iowa in 1986. Don's practice is a general practice including but not limited to the areas of estate planning, probate and estate administration, and tax preparation.
